Sport Tire for Segway miniPRO|
Speed Increase Noticeable
This is a nice larger tire for the MiniPro. I was surprised that I can notice the small speed increase due to the larger tire. I found replacing the tire quite easy in contrast to what I see in many videos. I did use 12" tire levers, but no excessive force was needed and I didn't scratch up the wheels as I use a rim protector when removing the tire. Unfortunately you will have to remove the fenders or modify them to fit the larger tire, or buy custom ones. I modified the existing fenders along the lines of some you tub videos, and Robert K's description in his Off-Road tire review. The tires had a 92cm circumference when fully inflated, but many people like to ride the tires under inflated for a smoother ride. The tires were a bit expensive, but should last long time. I got 700 miles on the original tires and they were still good; you will likely get less if you run them with low pressure.
Sport tire versus hybrids
I hate to segue many pros and have put hybrid tires on one in the four tires on the other, primary uses for landscaping around the property, so I travel on concrete driveways, gravel roads, dirt and grass. I’ve tried a different air pressures from 10 pounds, 15 pounds, 20 pounds etc., 15 pounds seems to be the sweet spot for both tires. Both tires have increased overall speed currently the hybrid tire has a slight edge over the sport, however if I used the Segway primarily for sidewalks, concrete pathways etc. it might be different.
